About the Show
The show opens with a welcome and then a song that demonstrates a particular poetic form/style/ genre or an actual famous poem.
I’ll read 2-3 poems on a theme–the season, weather, current event, or ideological concept. These could be my own or a well-known poet’s, mostly American with some international. From the theme poems, I’ll choose a poet to focus on and read more of their work. There will be a brief craft talk, an explanation of why the poems work, then I’ll invite callers to share their opinions about those poems.
Musical interlude – chosen for their relation to the poems.
For the last 20 minutes, I will offer a poetry prompt, and read poems sent in from the previous week.
