The Debut
Rolling Grass County
Last night (9/12) Weekly Dose Of … had the pleasure of a visit in studio with 2 members of this great new local band. They blew us away with an intimate acoustic set of all original music. If you’ve not heard of this outfit, you need to check out Rolling Grass Country. The band has formed this year, they are rooted in Americana, Appalachia and Rock music. For an outfit that’s only formed in the recent year, they are exceptional, and you could hear their polish. The band is truly working hard to bring their unique and personal music to a stage near you.
Last night their debut, their first live performance happened right here on WCOM-lp Carrboro’s 100-Watt Wonder, your community voice. What a treat! Rolling Grass Country is Nathan Oliver – singer/songwriter and guitarist, Bob Winstead – banjo/keys/vocals, Ray Hendrik – bass, and Jackie Mackenzie – drums. Unfortunately, we only had two of the band join us, but Nate and Bob delivered an amazing set of original material. Personal songs with great lyric and music, they blew us away! The passion was evident, and Nates songwriting is nothing short of amazing. The music was tight. Weekly Dose Of … plans on taking the trip out to Mebane to check out the whole band and their debut show at the “Stumblin’ Pig” (208 W Clay St.) from 2-5 PM September 20th. If you are interested in checking out last night’s broadcast, and learning more about the band, check out the stream here:

It was truly our pleasure to have Rolling Grass Country debut their original music to our listening audience. Shout out to the band members who could not make it (Ray and Jackie). If you are a local to the area, make sure you get out and support the band at the Stumblin’ Pig in Mebane.
Tune in Fridays from 6-9 PM EST for another Weekly Dose Of … You never know what Bernie and Erik will be bringing to the airwaves of Carrboro and Chapel Hill.
