Kershaw & Wade strike up a lively conversation with collaborators Freebo and Alice Howe this past Friday on their first show of 2026! A complete surprise to Weekly Dose Of … given we had learned the night before both artists were available for our broadcast! A true organic experience had by all. The entertaining night with Alice and Freebo music playing in the background, and that organic conversation where you learn a great deal about this musical pairing. Freebo and Alice have been performing together for the past 8 years and have been described as having “Undeniable Chemistry”. Freebo also produced Alice’s latest album “Circumstance”, recorded at the legendary FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
Alice Howe is an up-and-coming singer/songwriter with a beautiful soulful voice, and was recently named Best Female Artist at The International Acoustic Music Awards. She brings an old soul sound into a new age, in this writers opinion.
Freebo, and Alice came to our show by way of F. Scott Moyer, a friend of WCOM’s Weekly Dose Of … Our original hope was to explore a little of Freebo’s playing memories of those drummers who have added their signatures to the Legends of the Groove Signature Cymbal. Freebo has played with numerous drummers incapsulated on that historical artifact.
Freebo is a singer/songwriter, producer and legendary bass player, known for his long career in studio session work and performing on the road with Bonnie Raitt, and David Lee Roth amongst others. His session footprint includes the likes of Ringo Starr, John Mayall, John Hall, Maria Muldaur, Dr. John, Crosby Stills & Nash and many others. Freebo’s fretless bass is heard on numerous tracks that make up the song book of many of our lives. In one short hour we tried to touch on the vastness of a storied career, and music Alice and Freebo have been making together for the last 8 years.
