“Number one Son”

Kershaw and Wade had the privilege of Bernie Dresel joining their broadcast Weekly Dose Of … over the airwaves in Chapel Hill/Carrboro NC. last night 10/10/2025.  A great time with an amazing talent right here at everyone’s favorite 100-Watt wonder WCOM-lp 103.5 FM.  What a night!  Bernie shared some intimate stories of his life, his family, and his craft.  It’s hard to capture a body of work in a little over an hour, but Bernie did his best to provide us some of his incredible journey as one of Los Angelos’ busiest studio and live musicians.  Bernie has applied his craft as both a drummer and percussionist on numerous film scores, television, and countless LPs since moving to LA in 1983.  After graduating from the prestigious Eastman School of Music in upstate NY, Bernie made his way west and has made a significant contribution to the songbook and soundtracks of our lives.   You might be surprised to find you’ve heard him and never knew you were listening to some of his work!  Check out his BIO at www.berniedresel.com.

Bernies musical path, and accomplishments include being a Multi–Grammy Award winning artist, with the Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band since its inception in 1999 and his overlapping time with Brian Setzer Orchestra in the drum chair, includes more grammy awards during that tenure.   Other awards include “Best Big Band Drummer” and Drum! Magazine has put him on their list of “53 Drummers Who Made a Difference in the ’90s” as well as honoring him with a Drummie for Best Big Band Drummer.  Although we did not talk a great deal about his travel and live touring work, we did learn he has taken his craft all over the world and has had a few interesting road stories.  One of the stories shared with our listening audience had to do with his Woodstock 30th anniversary performance.  You must listen to the stream to know the specifics.  A little shocking to say the least.
