The Professor

Some of you out there may have heard his guitar and not realized you were listening to Marty.  Marty is an accomplished guitarist, songwriter, composer, producer, and currently a college professor at the Berklee School of Music.  During his session career Marty has recorded with numerous industry giants including, Dolly Parton, Barbara Mandrell, John Denver, Donna Summer, Eddie Money, Neil Diamond, John Fogerty, and more.  He has toured with numerous bands including Seals and Croft and Supertramp.

WCOM Weekly Dose Of … had the great fortune to have Marty join our show this past Friday 11/29/24.  Bernie and Erik had a very intimate, and casual conversation with Marty which included playing a number of tracks from his Discography and learning numerous industry stories from his time on the road touring with Seals and Croft, including a tale involving the same model aircraft that took a number of the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd to the great gig in the sky on the very night their plane went down.

Marty has a storied career which has covered the gambit of music production.  As the industry changed with the advancement of the internet, we learned many musicians have had to re-invent themselves.  Marty has had the good fortune of growing up in the heyday of the industry, played on many hit records, and seen firsthand how the internet influences have forever changed the recording industry.  Marty provides some insights for how many musicians have had to adapt or move on in their career roles, including his own path to becoming a professor at the Berklee School of Music.  During our visit we learned Marty’s latest passion includes film and music being put to film;  Always keeping his creative side engaged.
