A visit with Tommy Vicari

Many of you have heard his work and had no idea Tommy Vicari was an integral part of the production, recording engineering, sound mixing and more. Tommy has a lifetime working in the music, television and film industry, and has extensive experience as a recording engineer, scoring mixer and record producer. Last night Weekly Dose Of … had the privilege of a visit with Mr. Tommy Vicari and it was truly a special moment. Tommy was brought to our show by Mr. F. Scott Moyer and the Legends of the Groove Signature Cymbal. We learned Tommy has worked with more than 25 of the drummers whose autographs have been captured by Scott on the Legends Cymbal.

During our hour with Tommy, we chatted casually about the industry and his evolution of 50 years from records to being the sound engineer for the Academy awards, which he has worked for the last 26 years, and has been invited back for the next show.  Tommy has an amazing, storied career that includes numerous awards and recognition by his peers including being a Multi-Emmy and Grammy Award recipient. Tommy is internationally recognized as one of Hollywood’s finest recording engineers and music mixers.

Some of the artists and industry giants include Billy Preston, Prince, George Duke, Jeffrey Osborne, Philip Bailey, Quincy Jones, Barbara Streisand, Pino Daniele, Sammy Nestico, and his 2015 Grammy Award winning Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band to name a few.

Tommy’s television credits include The Oscars, Six Feet Under, The Newsroom, Angels in America. In film Tommy’s feature films include Brian DiPalma cult classic, Phantom of the Paradise, Pixar multi Academy Award™ winning classics, Finding Nemo and Wall-E.
