About the Show
Hello Nice People! Uncle Dougie here but before I got here, I started my broadcast career in NYC at the Mutual Broadcasting System, then at NBC and CBS TV and Radio News as I finished my undergrad and graduate degrees at NY Tech on Long Island and Manhattan.
I always wanted to be a DJ (or game show host – sorry Pat Sajak!) but the “news doors” kept opening and I kept walking through them. I worked on the Imus Radio Show for 3 years (help!) and then I became an assigment editor for WNBC-TV. Then some fool in management made the mistake of putting me on the air at WNBC-TV and later on at WCBS-Newsradio and TV (all reporter jobs).
Later in life, I became a News Director at TV stations in Harrisonburg, Va. and New Bern, NC. From there, it was on to teaching as an Associate Professor at Meredith College in Raleigh specializing in Mass Comm (for 19 years).
Then, I found two loves of my life, my wife Monica, and WCOM (in that order!). My dream of always wanting to be a DJ has been accomplished! Also, I have 3 children who I am very proud of (Correne, Tim, & Molly). So, that’s about it. Please keep listening and thank you very much! Best wishes, Uncle Dougie!
