Instructions for setting up show pages:
Once you are logged in, navigate to your show page- links on left- or you can click on “DJ/Host Page Edit”. Once you are there you will see an “edit” button at the top- click to add picture or to edit your profile info. It’s a “Myspace” style-interface, pretty self explanatory.
Please put in your showtime and a description of your show, plus website link if you have one. You can add pictures to your description, the “add image” button is below the description field when you are in edit mode.
The “show notes” tab will output any “RSS Feed” that you have. The idea here is that if you keep a playlist or info on your own site, in a blog format, or on MySpace, etc., you have available an RSS feed (it’s just a URL) that you put here. When you update your blog etc it will AUTOMATICALLY update here- look at Calvin’s page for a good example:
We’ll be sprucing these pages up and adding features as we get feedback and develop the site. Thanks for your patience.
Podcasters- getting your feed to our podcast pages:
Please “burn” your feeds through feedburner if you haven’t already- if you look into it you will see the advantages- and you can use the free service or not, but we need a script that they can create for you. Just go to feedburner.com and follow the prompts- it’s a google company so you can use your gmail account if you like, not mandantory, tho.
Once you have “burned” your feed, click on the “publicize” tab and then perform “buzz boost”- you’ll see a piece of code- copy it and ask the webmaster to add it to the site.
The code will look something like this, FYI:
Now you can update your own feed and it will automatically update on the WCOM website. Questions? Send ’em on!
Jackie Helvey has been the webmaster for WCOM’s website, www.communityradio.coop, since 2006, doing yeoman’s duty keeping it fresh, fun and useful for our community. As we move into our new digs at wcomfm.org we’d like to thank her heartily for her countless hours of volunteer work to create a great resource to build from. She continues to be one of the “go to” folks at WCOM, and we’ll be looking to her for guidance as the Communications Committee takes on the awesome responsibility for our “window to the world”.
Jackie takes community service seriously, serving on many committees and boards in Chapel Hill and Carrboro, and was named “Volunteer of the Year” by the town of Carrboro in 2007. When she’s not volunteering, she stays plenty busy with her graphic design and web development business, UniqueOrn Enterprises. Thanks, Jackie!
A one hour memorial show was broadcast and will be posted on this site.
In Joomla! 1.5 all User interfaces can be localised. This includes the installation, the Back-end Control Panel and the Front-end Site.
The core release of Joomla! 1.5 is shipped with multiple language choices in the installation but, other than English (the default), languages for the Site and Administration interfaces need to be added after installation. Links to such language packs exist below.
