We're moving -- can you help?
It's official! WCOM has signed a lease with the ArtsCenter and we are moving to the new studios by September 1st. We will upfit the new station into what was known as the East End Gallery—a glassed-in 300 square foot space at the entrance of the ArtsCenter.
Our old studios will be sorely missed and will be used to stage the development of the second phase of renovations that have started in that section of Downtown Carrboro.
Much has to happen before we can move in—not only the coordination, engineering and construction but the raising of funds to accomplish all this. It is on this matter that I am writing to you.
We need one hundred friends of WCOM to give $100 each in order to pay for the move. I am sending my hundred dollars today.
I know how hard it is to part with this money in the current economic crisis, but we have to do it for the radio station. It is a one-time gift that will allow this unique non-profit community organization to continue providing the service that started in 2004.
The move to the ArtsCenter will mark a new era of cooperation for both organizations. New programs are in the works, including classes in radio broadcasting, news reporting and interviewing, and radio theatre. This is a very exciting time for Carrboro, for the ArtsCenter, and for WCOM 103.5 FM.
Please join me in making this happen. Send in your check today or go to our web site, wcomfm.org, click on the Donate Now button and contribute to the “100X100 Campaign” with your credit card.
Thank You for your support of WCOM,
Jacques Menache
